Xrf spectro analyser
XRF spectrometer for checking scrap zinc for recycling
We are commencing development of processing of scrap zinc for our manufacturing operations
Predominately we are after obtaining a suitable zinc alloy equivalent to Zamak 3 which has 3.8 to 4.3 Aluminium.
Obviously other elements such as Nickel and Copper are not desired as we have to use the recovered Zamak 3 for injection molding o wheel balancing weights. Currently we do about 30 ton of zinc a month from pure ingot and master block which we mix to get Zamak 3.
Because we have always used the proper ingots we have learned how to control and use.
However scrap creates other issues which we have to deal with such as contaminants and other alloys. So in future we have to consider getting something like a XRF hand held xray spectrometer to establish how much good ingot we have to mix with the recovered ingot so that we don’t have porosity and underweight parts.
We also process around 200 ton a month of lead which we mix with Antimony to achieve approx. 1.5 to 2% antimony in the lead.
I have been doing some measurement trials from some suppliers of XRF so I have attached for your interest and maybe it can help you establish which model we need.
Then can you please provide me specs and a cost quotation.
I am on a very tight budget so bear that in mind. We would even look at a certified used unit that
maybe someone has traded to upgrade their model. (preferably under 10 years old.)
