The general molecular weight is 10- 2000 kDa. In 1943 Ivanovics first discovered γ-PGA, and since 1942 Bovarnick found that γ-PGA as a fermentation product can be freely secreted into Bacillus subtilis growth medium, it was found that a variety of Bacillus can be in the cell PGA.Because the polymer has free a-carboxyl group, it has high hydration power. when γ-PGA was applied to the skin, it would increase the amount of both pyrrolidonecarboxylic acid and lactic acid as the main components of Natural Moisture Factor (NMF).
