The beeswax is formed by worker bees.
The new wax is initially glass clear and colorless, becoming opaque after mastication and adulteration with pollen by the hive worker bees, becoming progressively more yellow or brown by incorporation of pollen oils and propolis.
The wax scales are about three millimetres across and 0.1mm thick and about 1100 are required to make a gram of wax.

* In pharmaceutical industry, beeswax can be used in the manufacture of dental casting wax, base plate wax, adhesive wax, pill outer shell etc.
* In the food industry, it can be used as coating, packing and coat of food.
* In agriculture and animal husbandry, it can be used as manufacturing fruit tree grafting wax and pest adhesive etc.
* In beekeeping, it can be used to manufacture beeswax foundation and wax bowl.
* In material industry, it can be used to manufacturing cloth, lubricants and coatings etc.
